An " official first" for me at Unscripted Sketches

After following and using the US blog  as a "go to" blog for ideas/sketches,  I decided to try to get on the team. :)
Every Saturday there is a new sketch to try and once a month there is a "piggy back " challenge added to the sketch but only if you wish to add it.  Here is my card for the sketch this week.

I used BoBunny dp pad called "weekend market collection" (gorgeous pad) and a freebie vintage image.  Since this week is the "piggy back" challenge to use "something recycled" I used this piece of scrap lace, a very old button and an old French book page (simple vowels).    I sewed around the edges with some gold thread that really shows up pretty irl on this navy dp.  I hope you can join in with all the rest of the dt at Unscripted Sketches for some fun ideas.  Have a great weekend :)   TFL

A heart-felt post...

Today is a special day for me and the hub...33 yrs ago we got married :)
The quote is from a Beatles song...  The photo is on a painted canvas and dp sewn.  More... is that we just lost my fil one week ago today..he was 95 and theeeee best "dad" anyone could ever have.  He took this picture of us on the family couch on one of our first dates.  People tell me "you had him for a long time"...yep...but it never takes away the hurt.  I just know there is a party goin on right now in Heaven...tfl

New Challenge "Oodles of Doodles"

Kaz is our hostess over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge today and here is what she has challenged us with:

"I can't draw and that's why I love stamping! I'm trying to work on my lettering, but some of the Design Team can do either or both and I am regularly in awe of their talent. I used to be frightened of doing anything freehand, but now I can't stop doodling and if I can do it, anyone can. Whether it's a few dots to highlight or a simple border, right through to drawing an accent on a stamp, I'd like you to do something freehand on your project."

So, I pulled out my fun "BLESSED SKELLIE" image from Roc Nicholas and made this tag. :)  I got to use my new stencils, paints and doodle!  (love that!)

Blessed Skellie reminds me of New Mexico where I try to visit my sister as often as I can.  The art there is so fun and ALOT of "day of the dead" stuff which is what this reminds me of.  Skellie is colored with copics and paper pieced and doodled on with a  white uniball pen.  The arrow types are punched out old BG cs and sewn on.  I think I may have to give this to my niece...she loves skeletons!
Head on over to the blog and look at the creations by the dt...     to win the challenge of a $30.00 gift to the store please use Stampotique only images.  TFL!

Tag Tuesday "Easter"

Time sure flys!  It is Holy week and I am wondering where Christmas went.  I play in Tee's tag swap once a month and the theme right now is Easter/ Spring.  I made this for my swap partner:
The images are freebies from Crafty Secrets.  They are layered on the tag with a little sewing.  I also would like to enter in the following other challenges:  (Tag Tuesday), Catered Crop = use a brad, Raise the bar =" the promise of Easter" and All sorts challenge 148= photo inspiration on the blog.  Speaking of Easter....I read this little quote/prayer  on the "tag Tuesday" blog too... and I think it sums things up..."The Cross shows what sin can do and what love can bear".... hmmmmmm....sounds right to me....

Next is a card I made for a friend of mine who is just beginning her journey to beat breast cancer...she is on my mind .....

Image = Stampotique Sunfleur #9167 colored with Copics.  The paper behind it is handmade India paper that I found in JoAnns' kinda off by itself in a lonely isle ... it is GORGEOUS, has sparkles on it and I cant wait to use it more.  The red button was also at JoAnns and I clipped off the back of it for my card.  I would like to enter this card the PaperTake weekly challenge blog for the beginning of the month which is "anything goes".
TFL  and wishing you all a very Blessed Holy Week leading to Easter Sunday.....  :)
